writers whose work I love.

Karin Slaughter: Karin writes the fantastic Grant County series as well as standalones. I just tore through her latest, Skin Privilege, in two days flat. Tremendous stories and masterful writing!

Daniel Silva: This is the author of a wonderful series featuring art restorer and spy Gabriel Allon. Allon tends to be in the middle of touching up the Sistine--well, not exactly, but deep in some similarly important work--when the call comes in that his spy skills are urgently needed. Excellent reading.

www.tessgerritsen.com: Tess is a doctor turned thriller writer. Brilliant books! I love her series with Detective Jane Rizzoli.

http://www.users.bigpond.com/kgrenville/: Kate is an Australian author whose books have won numerous international prizes. My favourites are 'Lilian's Story' and 'Dark Places'. Wonderful work.

www.dennislehane.com:  This is the guy who wrote Mystic River. Check out his PI series with the characters Patrick Kenzie and Angie Gennaro. Wonderful stuff.

www.michaelconnelly.com:  Creator of the great Harry Bosch, LA police detective who just can’t escape trouble.

www.harlancoben.com:  Fantastic reads – a series with the crime-fighting sports agent Myron Bolitar, and numerous incredible stand-alones.

www.robertcrais.com: Crais writes the impressive series about LA private eye Elvis Cole. I'm looking forward to reading 'The Watchman', his first novel from the point of view of scary sidekick Joe Pike.

www.lauralippman.com:   Writer of a series featuring Baltimore journo-turned-PI Tess Monaghan, plus the stand-alones Every Secret Thing (one of my favourite books), To The Power Of Three, and the soon-to-be-released What the Dead Know. I can’t wait!

www.leighredhead.com: My great friend Leigh! We first met at Varuna a few years back and found a mutual background of writing lurid rip-offs of Trixie Belden books when we were in high school to entertain our friends. She uses her experience working as a stripper to incredible effect in her wonderfully funny and sexy novels, Peepshow, Rubdown, and the newly released Cherry Pie.

www.jamesleeburke.com This man’s Billy Bob Holland series makes my heart sing. Go now. Read.

www.kathrynfox.com  Kathryn’s a Sydney GP who writes gripping thrillers about Anya Crichton, pathologist and forensic physician.

www.pdmartin.com.au  In PD Martin’s pacy books, profiler Sophie Anderson works with the FBI, where she finds her psychic ability sometimes a help, sometimes a hindrance.

www.annieproulx.com   Annie Proulx. What can I say? The Shipping News would be my desert island pick, then I’d smuggle in Bad Dirt and Close Range as well.

Interesting ambulance sites.

www.medicscribe.blogspot.com:   Peter Canning has written two great books on his years as a paramedic in Connecticut. This is his blog.

www.neenaw.co.uk:  The blog of an ambulance controller in London.

www.randomreality.blogware.com: The blog of an ambulance officer, also in London.
